Spotted on Pinterest

I spotted such a cute thing on Pinterest that I had to share.....am --ummm- I'm going to have to make myself! I don't usually buy the big buckets on Cascade, but I will have to make an exception for this little cutie!

Can you see it sitting on its side? Then create the face of the alligator/crocodile out of fun foam. Ohhh....it's a cutie!

Now, what can you do with it?
These pictures show using it for letter/sound identification . Basically a child pulls out a letter and says the name of the letter or the sound it makes. I can think of a million and one things to use this little darling for....

How about.....
1. practice reading word wall words
2. number identification or addition/subtraction facts
3. deciding who will be the leader of the day or some other job
4. choosing a name to answer a question during read aloud or other time
5. pull a little toy (from Lakeshore Learning) and kids tell which sound/letter it begins         with or name another word that begins like it
6. pull a little toy or picture card and segment
These are activities I can think of just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are even better uses.....

What other uses can you think of?? -- comment below :0)

  1. I saw this a while back on Pinterest and thought it was cute, too. I don't have a dishwasher, so I thought I might just find another type of container. Then, the other day, I was cleaning up my cabinets at school and realized I had 5 empty baby wipe containers in there. I recently posted that I needed ideas for them, but I think now I have some just from your reminder about this! I think I'll make some baby animals out of them and use them in a similar manner. Thanks!

  2. oh how precious Angela..... I could see using this and creating all kinds of farm animals..... Great idea!!

You know...I have a pink pig trashcan at school (you've probably seen them)...anyways We play games like I have above using the trashcan...... but the Cascade bucket or even baby wipe containers is a cheaper version - LOVE IT!

  4. So cute! Thanks for sharing, I too might have to invest in this product previously deemed unnecessary if only to make this little guy! What would we do without Pinterest?

  5. Such a great idea! Now I just have to wait until all my soap packets are gone! I'm thinking of some kind of spelling activity for my second graders...

  8. If you have a Cricut and an animal cartridge you could make tons of animals for this, just laminate them before using so they would last longer. I think it would be fun to switch the animals out every so often.

  9. For slightly older grades, you can use it to practice content areas too. There could be a question that students have to answer, or a fact/opinion card that students have to decide which it is, etc. You could even do it as multiple choice questions. As a DI coach I wanted my teachers to do something like this. You could practice the same type of content but it would be so much more engaging than a typical worksheet
