I love Dr. Seuss and celebrating his special day! But sometimes I get overwhelmed by all the cute things out there and lose sight of the nitty-gritty.... :0)
Well, here's an activity that allows you to get the nitty-gritty done with a Seuss flare!!!
I'll keep this short and sweet :0) - Basically your kiddos will use what they know about word family words and blends to help them read some words. Some of the words are real words and some are nonsense (just like what we often see in our beloved Dr. Seuss books). Your kiddos task is to sort the words with Thing 1 and Thing 2.
I hope this adds a little flare to your classroom and takes a little off your shoulders as we make the push to Spring Break!!
UPDATE:
I made a Seuss-legal freebie I'd love you to have. It has no references to Seuss or any Seuss characters. But, it's a nice Silly word wall game. Click the picture below to grab it!
I hope you can use it!

Am I missing the link? I would love to use this with my preschooler! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sad the company won't let teachers use this educational stuff but they sure want us to be everything in the stores!!! The sad part is we would buy more in the stores probably because we would have all this cute free stuff to go with it and we could afford some of their stuff too! Maybe I will just refuse to buy dr. Seuss stuff in the stores since they don't seem to support teachers or kids.
ReplyDeleteI could NOT agree with you more!! It has left such a terrible taste in my mouth that I am considering dropping all things Seuss from my classroom.....it's so sad that ours kids can't even enjoy FREEBIES.....:0(
ReplyDeleteI am so disappointed with the Suess company;( Makes me almost not want to celebrate Dr. Seuss in my classroom!
