Gearing up for the year to come.....Meet the Teacher

Today was the 5th day in a row that I have been in my sweltering classroom getting the room ready. I L-O-V-E, love getting ready for the new school year! It's a special time for both me and my children (who adore coming with me to help.....and get a nice lunch out of it ;p ).

After 4 days, my room was pretty much ready to go physically- it actually looks like a classroom again. We have to take our rooms completely apart so it takes a while to get it back together. I'll post pictures when it's completely done AND I've cleaned up my mess. But today was spent mostly working on by Back-to-School paperwork for parents. It's so nice to feel like I've accomplished something!

For me, Meet the Teacher is such an important time of the school year. This is when parents decide whether they are on your side....or not! So, I spend a lot of time not only making sure I am organized, but also making a nice little packet for parents. I make each child a baggie full of parent paperwork to complete. Organization is the key to success for Meet the Teacher.....well for everything teaching-related, but I digress. Back to Meet the Teacher parent pack.....

What's in the Baggie (Parent Pack)?:
*Emergency Information Form - I do NOT let parents leave until I have this form completed. The rest can wait. I'd rather parents take the rest home and fill it out so I'm not trying to babysit while they fill them out in the classroom.
*ABC's of Kindergarten - this is my guide to all things kindergarten. You've probably seen this all over the web. Basically it tells parents important info and answers alot of commonly asked kinder questions.
*Lucky Charms poem with baggie of Lucky Charms - kids love this! In kindergarten, kids come in alot of times scared and unsure about this new adventure. When they get a little token from the teacher - they LOVE it! I've had kids talk about the Lucky Charms months afterwards.
*Poem to Parent - it's sweet...about entrusting me with their child. This wins most parents over immediately when they realize you care about their child.
*all the office forms......

YAYYYY!

I did it! I did it! I am thrilled that I figured it out! Wow - that sure was a learning experience. I have soooo much to learn about blogging, but I am excited about my journey into the teacher blogging world!

GGGGRRRR!!!!

I having been trying to figure out how to make a silly text box for the code to grab my button. Wow! Am I an idiot??? I figured out how to make the button. Check! That was easy. Now I've spent the last 2 hours trying to figure out how to put a text box with the html code. So, I'm trying to post it here and see if that works!

I am so ready!!!

Alright, I am finally up and running with my first "teacher" blog. I have a blog for my kindergarten parents, but I've never been brave enough to start a blog for teachers. But I love, love, love to share AND getting great ideas from all of you! So........here goes!!!!
